Food poisoning was supposed to be a bad week. It became over a year of not recognizing my own body.
Salmonella knocked me down hard – I lost almost 20 lb in six months. The real damage was deeper: food turned unpredictable. Meals that used to be fine now triggered brain fog, inflammation, and hours of feeling wrecked. Normal eating disappeared.
I did everything “right”: infectious disease specialists, multiple gastroenterologists, neurologists, functional nutritionists, full panels (GI-MAP, Gut Zoomer, Geneva), elimination diets, antimicrobials, probiotics, prebiotics, endless supplements. Thousands spent. Most did nothing. Some made me worse. Short relief never lasted.
The worst part wasn’t the symptoms – it was the uncertainty. Eventually I focused on intestinal permeability – the gut barrier itself, which led me to peptides.
Careful use of BPC-157, KPV, and Larazotide started repairing inflammation and the lining at the source. For the first time since getting sick, real progress happened. Food tolerance returned. Brain fog lifted. Inflammation settled. I felt like myself again.
But sourcing was a nightmare: confusing suppliers, inconsistent quality, prices that made consistent use unrealistic for most people.
